DSC_0043.JPG - A garden bumblebee (Bombus hortorum) enjoys red clover. This species has three yellow bands (one on the front of the thorax and one either side of the 'waist') and a very long tongue. Its face is long and thin, like a horse, which helps to distinguish it from the similarly patterned heath bumblebee (Bombus jonellus). by Dave Goulson
