| A queen Bombus lucorum showing the clean white tail which gives it the common name 'white-tailed bumblebee'. The white tail and lemon yellow bands help to distinguish it from the similar buff-tailed bumblebee. Confusingly, buff-tailed workers also have a mainly white tail - but a line of buff coloured hairs between the white and black bands is a tell-tale sign. by Dave Goulson |
